Hi there! My name's Marguerite Madden, Founder of TriThrift.
My journey with endurance sports started in 2014 after running my first 5k. After that, the dominos fell and I've been an avid member of the world of endurance sports ever since.
It wasn't until I registered for my first triathlon in 2020 that I realized how many barriers to the sport there were and how those barriers were keeping more people from participating.
Whether the barriers are related to cost, accessibility, self-doubt, or all the above, my mission is to help reduce them as much as possible to help you, and others, tri.

Why Do I Tri?

I tri because I get to, not have to. After participating in my first endurance race, I soon realized the powerful link between getting to voluntarily do hard things and the self-discovery experienced in the process. When we get to choose what hard things we "tri" in life, and prove to ourselves we can do them, we become much more prepared when the inevitable hard things we have to do in life show up.

Why Do I Tri?
I tri because I enjoy the routine of training, the challenge of pushing myself to reach new goals, the continuous learning that comes with each season, and the joy of training with my fellow club members!

Why Do I Tri?
I tri because I had the world’s best feeling of accomplishment when I crossed the finish line of my first triathlon. I’ve been chasing those endorphins since!
I continue to tri because it keeps me active, gives me quality time with my friends and I love seeing the look on people’s faces when I casually drop into conversation that I’m a triathlete.

I tri because I love a challenge. I tri because I love the community. I tri because I love competing, even if it’s only against myself.

Why I "tri" has looked different throughout my life and the journey I am currently on, but what has remained steady is my belief that my health and well-being are intrinsically linked to moving my body with purpose. I "tri" because I know I can do hard things and I believe that when I "tri" I gain so much more than the physical benefits, and when we "tri" together, we all win.

Why Do I Tri?
I “tri” because it shows and encourages others that hard things can be done and breaking barriers is possible. I “tri” also because while I am doing physical activity and endurance training, I “forget” I have a disability, I forget I have limitations not everyone experiences, and I just GO!
